3 Baseball Betting Tips

Perhaps the most difficult sport betting experience is that of the baseball bettor. From the time the season begins to the time it ends, there is much to take into consideration, as aside from the two teams playing, fans must know the weather conditions, injury reports, ballpark type and so forth. For the fan new to betting on baseball, we have created three key tips to assist you in becoming a better sports gambler.

Tip #1: Consider Streaks- Since the baseball season is 162 games long, teams going on both winning and losing streaks becomes more and more of a hassle for new fans. As a wise man once said a team can win half its games and lose half its games, however it is what they do with the other half that defines them. Our tip is to consider streaks, if a team is good they will reel off 10 game winning streaks on a rather frequent basis, possibly five or six times a year. Conversely if a team is bad they will reel off long losing streaks on a regular basis.

Tip#2: Compare the Teams- We can't stress this tip enough, no matter how good a team is, one should not assume just because they are facing one of the worst teams statistically that they will not struggle against them. For instance the Chicago Cubs tend to be one of the top teams in the Central yearly and fans betting on the Cubs to defeat the Pirates are usually in for a rude awakening. Over the last two years, the Pirates have absolutely wiped the floor with the Cubs leaving many to scratch their heads over who is the better team.

Tip#3: Injuries to the Starting Line Up- Most casual fans simply do not take this tip into consideration, as they just believe that the best team will win. By looking at the rosters and seeing who is in the starting lineup, it can make all the difference between picking a winner or a loser. For example, the Jays have had a revolving door at second base this year, as a result, it tends to be a safer bet to wager against them when regular second baseman Aaron Hill is out of the lineup.
