College Football Betting – Figuring Out The Complicated Bowl Season

Unlike during the regular season or in conference championship games, betting on the NCAAF bowl season could be very difficult from the perspective that the teams that are meeting under those circumstances likely haven’t played one another before. Making the smart wager involves not only knowing which team to lay on, but knowing how much to lay down on any given online wagering selection. While looking back over the years can provide some insight in to important stats and trends, it is just as important to understand the situation of the given teams that are playing, including their season results, how they have played against similar competition, and the type of conference that they play in.

Prior to last year’s Bowl games, the betonline underdog teams registered a 26-14-1 record in 41 double-digit spreads, which is testament to how close most of these games ended up even though the pay head numbers were in some cases so big. In half of those ATS wins, the underdog actually won the game straight up, so when it comes to Bowl season the first rule is to avoid underestimating the underdogs. Another key factor in determining winners is looking to their conference schedules, and the type of opponents they have faced. While the reigning Pac-12 champion Oregon Ducks have dominated their conference the last two seasons, they have lost both of their games against SEC competition including defeat at the hands of the Auburn Tigers in last year’s national championship game and a pay head loss to the current No. 1 LSU Tigers in this year’s opener. But while they may not have their way against the best the SEC has to offer as a superior conference, they could have the edge if they meet a team like the No. 6 Arkansas Razorbacks, with a strong determination to finally take down an SEC powerhouse.
